Midnight part 1: New Friends

    "This is unbelieveble." I said to myself. "Who would have thought this town was home to lots of different types of others ponies from all over Equestria?"

    I was ready to look around and see the whole town myself. That is, until right from that moment, a pink earth pony mare just jumped in front of me like she was a ghost. I got shocked at first until I see how happy she looked. So I smiled back as well and said hello to her.

    "Well hello there, mam."

    But the mare suddenly gasped for unexpected reasons and just dashed off like magic. Once again, I was even more shocked and then confused.

    "Um... Okay then?"

    So with that I decided to continue where I was. Then, once again, the pink pony came back so quickly.

    "Ah!! Mam, please! What is it you want this time?!" I panicked for a moment.

    "So sorry about that, new friend in Ponyville." she said cheerfully. "Forgot to give you this."

    She handed me over a card which said: "You are invited to Pinkie Pie's Welcome Party at the Big Library Treehouse".

    "So I'm guessing your name is 'Pinkie Pie'?" I asked.

    "Yepper!" she response in an even more cheerful mood. "And your name?"

    "I'm 'Midnight Starlight' and I just arrived here to check around this town."

    "How about coming to a party and then maybe a tour for you? I promise you it'll be super, dooper, double-rific AWESOME!!"

    She was so excited I couldn't help but laugh a bit and so I responded.

    "Well I suppose a party would be nice for me. Where'd you say the treehouse was?"

    Pinkie pointed out to the treehouse in between houses which, on the other hoof, was not far away.

    "Wow... That was quick."

    "Don't be too long! See ya there!" And with that, she dashed off back to the treehouse. I was surprised at first and so I started with the treehouse as I trotted over there.

    I was just about there until I noticed two other ponies, a yellow pegasus and a purple unicorn, with a small baby dragon on her back. I stopped for a moment and watched as the purple unicorn pony with the dragon went inside a bit rudely. I walked up to the treehouse as I approached the pegasus.

    "What's with her?" I asked.

    "Oh, um... I'm sure she needed to rest after a good long tour around Ponyville." The shy and cute pegasus said to me. "Oh, are you new here?"

    "Yes I am. My name is-"

    But as I was just about to introduce myself, there was an uproar of cheering inside the treehouse. Me and the pegasus were surprised from the loud noise.

    "Oh my! What do you think is going on inside?" she asked me.

    "I don't know. But I'm gonna find out."

    "I'll come in with you. I mean, if that's okay with you?"

    I was surprised to see that the young pegasus mare was still shy for a reason. So I smiled for her and with that she came along with me as we entered inside.

    As I entered inside, along with the pegasus, I found out that everypony were all inside of this treehouse. It looked almost as small to me comparing how much ponies there were but, to me, it was unexpected. Everypony saw me come in and with a response they all cried out: "SURPRISE!!!" Yes I was so surprised indeed. Back in my home life, before Dodge City and Appleloosa, I never really had much of a party unless if it was my birthday every year. But this was something I've never expected to be which was, of course, incredible!

    At last, Pinkie Pie popped out right in front of me.

    "Hiya, Midnight!"

    "Hello again, Pinkie Pie."

    Then she turned to the rest of the ponies in the party.

    "Everypony! This is our second new pony in Ponyville, Midnight Starlight."

    Everyone all cheered and began to welcome me in this new life. It felt good to me to see how happy and cheerful they were being.

    "Oh, so you are new here. Please to meet you, Midnight!" the pegasus said to me happily. "I'm 'Fluttershy' and it's so nice to have a new friend come here in town."

    "Why thank you, Fluttershy. I'm just here for a visit and see how good it looks for me is all. Plus, I never expected a party would be like this for me." I said to Fluttershy in a cheerful way.

    "Hey Fluttershy! I'm so happy that you would come by." Pinkie said to Fluttershy.

    "Oh, I wouldn't miss it for the world, Pinkie Pie. What are friends for?"

    "Oh, so you two know each other?" I asked.

    "You betcha!" Pinkie responded.

    "Oh yes we do. We've been best friends since I moved here before you came along." Fluttershy said.

    I didn't realize at it first but it was nice I got to know Fluttershy as well as Pinkie Pie. Just then I felt my arm being grabbed and shaken up and down really fast. It wasn't Pinkie Pie at first. As I turned around I noticed another Earth Pony mare with a color of orange, her mane colored in blonde, green eyes and freckles around her cheeks. She was just shaken me so fast my mind was once again blown away to see a mare, with such great strength, who would do that.

    "Howdy there, partner!" she said cheerfully. "So your name is Midnight Starlight, right?"

    "Yes it is, mam." I said. "You see, I-"

    But then I was cut off by yet another pony, but another pegasus mare, with her body colored in light blue and her mane mixed with a color of rainbow.

    "That's so cool! If there were even more new ponies coming here, Pinkie Pie's party would be non-stop and I could party all night long!" the rainbow haired pegasus said to me. "So you're the new pony around here, eh?"

    "Rainbow Dash, you should know better than to fly around inside the house. Somepony could get hurt if you're not careful enough." Once more, I heard a voice coming from yet another unicorn mare in a color of white, her mane curled up with a color of dark purple and light blue eyes. Despite her looks, she looked marvelous.

    "Aw c'mon, I was being careful and all. I was just saying hi to him is all."

    Soon they all looked at me as I was starting to feel a little odd about what was going on here.

    "So... I'm guessing you all actually know each other as well as Pinkie and Fluttershy?" I asked.

    "Uh-huh." they all responded.

    "Well then," I said. "Besides Pinkie Pie and Fluttershy that I've known just now, what about you, girls?"

    "Our apologies, good colt." the white unicorn started off. "My name is 'Rarity Belle'. Enchanted and delighted to make your acquaintance. And, if I must say, what charming color of white in between your eyes and all over your horn indeed. So... Stunning you are!" She then noticed her hair was close to me which made me blush a bit and chuckled. "Oh, do pardon my hair that's on you, won't you please darling?"

    Darling?! I thought out loud on the inside. After all these years, no mare has ever said that to me unless I was married first. But I knew when to pull myself together when it comes to making friends all around Ponyville.

    "Oh, um sure thing, Rarity. My apologies. Hehe." I responded to Rarity. She laughed for moment before she would speak.

    "Oh there's no need to be shy about it, Midnight. After all, it's good to meet you as a new friend. Am I right?"

    The orange earth pony mare stepped in and kindly moved Rarity aside making sure I didn't blush too much.

    "Okay Rarity, ah think he's got it now." she said. "Anyways, mah name's 'Applejack' and ah couldn't help but ask if ya knew my cousin 'Braeburn'. Right?"

    I was surprised to noticed what she had mentioned about. "Why yes, indeed I do know him. He and I have been best friends since I've moved to Appleloosa from Dodge City before I came here in the first place."

    "Ah reckon you were." Applejack said. "He's been sending me some messages about you helping out everypony back then. Ah must say that was very thoughtful of you to help out."

    "Well, it's the least I can do for them." I said.

    "Anyways from that, who wants apple fritters!?" she called as she randomly holds a tray full of apple fritters.

    "I'm in!" the blue pegasus called out and dashed over to take a bite. But Applejack swiped the tray from the pony.

    "How about you, Sugarcube?" Applejack asksed me and showed me her fritters. "Care for some apple fritters?" I looked at it for a moment trying to remember if I had some or not.

    "Are those the same apple fritters I had back in Appleloosa?"

    "Ya darn tootin' they are, partner!" Applejack responded. "Ya see, like Braeburn, ah have some apple family members who live there, as well as other lands of Equestria, and we bake the best apple recipes, like these I'm holding here, then everypony has ever made."

    "Yeah dude!" the pegasus butted in. "Applejack and her family have made the best foods that no pony has ever tried! Like: Apple Fritters, Apple Pies, mostly Apple Ciders and-"

    "Rainbow Dash!" Applejack cut her off from speaking. "Has anypony ever told you it's not polite to butt in when ah'm talking to our new guest here?"

    "It's okay, girls. I'm use to it sometimes." I said kindly and asked the blue pegasus. "And your name is "Rainbow Dash" that I over heard, right?"

    The pegasus smiled and started flying around me very fast and yet very carefully. 

    "The one, the only and fastest flying pony in Ponyville and all of Equestria!"

    "Well that's cool to hear." I said.

    "Not just cool." she said as she flew right up to me. "It's AWESOME!! Either that or I can say it's about 20% cooler."

    "I guess I can't argue on that." I laughed. Then I noticed a purple dragon I saw before standing beside Rarity. The white unicorn turned to see what I was looking at and she recognized the little dragon from before.

    "Oh hello again, little one." she said to him. "Um, Spike right?"

    "That's my name alright." the dragon responded in a bashful way.

    "Oh so you can talk?" I asked surprisingly.

    "You know it!" Spike said. "Oh yeah, you're the second newest pony here, right?"

    "Well then, since you asked, yes I am." I said. "Midnight's my name. And you're Spike I heard from Rarity."

    The little dragon jumped onto my back.

    "You got it!" he responded. "And I'm not just a dragon, I'm an assistant for my unicorn mare, named "Twilight Sparkle", who came here before you did."

    "That's neat and such a nice name for a mare. Where is she?" I asked.

    "Upstairs in her room not coming down." Spike said.

    "How come?"

    "Because she thinks making friends would waste her time ever since she left Canterlot. And even when I try forcing her to come have fun, she refuses. Like this for instance; Hey Twilight!"

     "No thank you, Spike! Now leave me alone!"

    And for that moment a purple unicorn, who's named Twilight Sparkle, just shouts out at Spike and went back to her room. I was puzzled for a moment and chuckled.

    "Talk about being a party pooper, huh Spike?" I said to Spike. "I guess that explains why ponies, like her, can be a bit of snobs at fun times like this."

    Just then, a loud bang came from the door upstairs. And out came from the door was the furious Twilight Sparkle trotting right down from the stairs of her bedroom as everything inside the treehouse stopped for a moment.

    "Who just said I was a snob!?" the raging Twilight shouted out. Everypony pointed their hooves at me. I didn't know what just happened but I knew I was in a bit of trouble.

    The angry unicorn walked right up to me and then she pulled herself together.

    "Look here, uh..."

    "Midnight," Spike answered quietly which annoyed Twilight a bit.

    "Not that I'm angry at you for calling me a snob and some sort since you are new as well as me. But I'll have you know that there are differences between making friends and doing other business to serve Princess Celestia and all. But seriously, CALLING ME A SNOB!?"

    "I'm not saying you are but is that really the best you can do to shut everypony up for every reason they do to welcome you?" I said to Twilight.

    After hearing that, all the ponies mumured in agreement. But Twilight just kept on talking to me.

    "Look. Again... In case you haven't noticed, I am the student of our ruler known as Princess Celestia. You may not know her but you may know she will not like how you talk to me like that. Just a fair warning is all." Twilight said. But then I smirked.

    "You mean "the" Princess Celestia who sent me her message about coming here to Ponyville for the first time after you came, too?"

    "Wait, she what? But that's not possible. She's a princess and we're-"

    But I showed Twilight the message from the princess. As I showed her that, she was shocked for a moment until she laughed sarcastically.

    "But of course she did. Well, as Princess Celestia's trusted student, I am responsible to make sure that everything is fine in Ponyville."

    "And that's more important to you than making friends and not even a single one?" I asked. But Twilight decided not to respond back to me about making friends and started to lose patience.

    "You know what, this conversation is over! Now, if you'll excuse me, I have better things to do right now than think about what you've said to me about making friends and all. And don't EVER say that I am being a snob or anything else you think I am. Good day!"

    And with that, she went back upstairs to her room. Leaving us all a bit shocked and confused.

    "Wow,' Pinkie said as she popped out in between me and Spike. "You guys were right. She really can be a party pooper."

    She laughed as well as Spike, Applejack and Rainbow Dash. Me and Fluttershy only laughed a little bit and quietly from letting Twilight hear us. Rarity, however, thought it was just foalish (childish).

    "Now that's just rude, girls! You should know better than that when somepony is not in a better mood for now." She said. The other three, Pinkie, AJ and Rainbow, stopped laughing for a moment. Pinkie then went off to get some punch while Applejack, also, went to get more apple fritters as well. Rainbow Dash, well, decided to head back in the party floor and socialize other ponies about her awesomeness. By the time they left, Rarity began to laugh.

    "What's so funny, Rarity?" Fluttershy asked.

    "I agree what Midnight said! Hehe." Rarity laughed "Somepony can be quite of a snob sometimes. Oh, how embarrassing it is for me to laugh about something that shouldn't be funny. But still, I couldn't help it anyways. Um, would you be a dear friend and bring me a glass of water, Fluttershy?"

    "Oh absolutely, Rarity. Anything for you as a friend." Fluttershy trotted off to get some water.
    I watch Fluttershy left until I turned to Rarity who was, however, looking straight up at me with her cheeks blushing.

    "Um, are you quite alright, Rarity?" I asked.
    "Oh you must forgive me, darling Midnight, I do get a little sidetracked when meeting some stallions like you in town." she said to me.

    "You mean-" I said just until Rarity covered my mouth from finishing my sentence.
    "Yes, Midnight, even you," she said as she gently grabbed me on the left side of my cheeks and brought me closer to her face while she, as it sounds to me, was somehow hitting on me. "You see, I may have met some who are somewhat and really handsome back then but now, since we have met today and especially with that beautiful bright color of white on your horn, I must say YOU are in fact a "somewhat" AND "handsome" looking stallion that I have ever seen in my whole life!"
    I didn't say a word due to Rarity's words of generosity that suddenly made me blush for unexpected reasons. At last, she saw me blushing and laughed.
    "Oh ho ho! Do forgive me if you would. Sometimes, I get so hyped up when seeing some ponies who are just good looking as you." she said to me.
    "Hehe, of course. Anything you say, Rarity." I said nervously.
    "Now if we put that awkward moment aside," said Applejack as she gently moved Rarity aside from me and showed me her plate filled with apple fritters, "how about some fritters, partner?"
    "Thank you Applejack," I said in a relief before I took a bite out of her fritters. "Smells good." I took a bite and, with that moment, it tasted exactly the same as I had back in Appleloosa. "Mmm! Exactly like the ones I had back in Appleloosa before!" Hehe, I know I've already said it. Still, it was just delicious!
    "Glad you like it!" Applejack said cheerfully.
    "Indeed I do." I said.
    Just then, the party music began to play.
    "Oh! It's party time! You up for a good old dance off, Midnight?" Pinkie asked me. The music start to go even louder and I started to feel like dancing.
    "I haven't danced much since I was a colt but, in that case, you're on Pinkie!" I responded. And with that, we went to the dance floor and began our little dance competition.
    Little did I know that later on this evening, things are about to turn upside down for me and everypony else in Ponyville and all of Equestria. How so you ask? Well, as always, wait and see until next time.
